Before the first move

Does my child need chess experience?

No. Complete beginners can start in a foundation group. Please share any previous experience when you enquire.

How is the right group chosen?

Age is considered alongside rule knowledge, playing confidence and the child's current goals.

Are competitions compulsory?

No. Competition is an option for players who are ready and interested; the core programme also supports recreational learners.
